I was in Singapore for 4 days for a short trip to a company that I’ll be interning for. I gave a short presentation on Twitter to the team, and one of the discussions that came up was whether a business should be Twitter or not, since not all businesses are able to maintain a presence after a while, and their account goes inactive after a few days or months of using it.
Question: Should your brand be on twitter?
What would be better?
Scenario 1: An inactive account on Twitter that doesn’t respond to the people’s inquiries or problems
Scenario 2: No presence on Twitter at all? Since consumers or users can’t lodge a complaint online if they don’t get responded to since the brand is not online.
My opinion?
No matter if your brand is on Twitter or not, people will always talk about your business on Twitter, good or bad.
The worst part that could happen to you if you’re not on Twitter is getting fake parody accounts that users create for your business to poke fun at you.
Here is an example
If you don’t have much experience and you can’t afford an in-house team, or don’t have the time, then the best option would be to outsource it. So if you are a company and you are looking to outsource your Twitter account, look no further, @askaaaronlee is here! *grins*

I agree, but not just twitter, a company can use facebook + twitter + quora to maintain their presence.
Not sure I agree. Depending on the type of business, it might
Not be worth the time and money. An example could be a business to business working in oilfield servicing. No one is going to trash you on twitter because moat in that sector are not there so why bother?
I really think that in today’s society every business should be on Twitter and other Social Media streams that would make sense for their business. Reaching out to already and potential clients/customers that Social Media provides is a very inexpensive and effective way to go. After all, everyone is on at least one form of Social Media e it for fun or business.
Business should be where their customers are… nowadays, the pre-sales process starts there… so … If you have customers on twitter then i guess you should have a presence there…
Make sense?
Ya, it must be some relevant companies which they should use it to promote their products and interact with the customers.
It is crucial in terms of building business and creating new prospects. Some people are afraid of using Twitter and other social networking tools because they wont get trained. Or they think its about kids posting to each other. Get informed people!!!
