Twitter’s Joe and Jane Goes to TV

March 9, 2010 by Aaron 3 Comments

People still think that twitter is a waste of time. Some even think that twitter is lame. It is actually normal to hear all this from people who DON’T KNOW HOW TO USE TWITTER. Maybe they do use twitter, however not in a right way. The best way of using twitter is BEING YOURSELF. If you’re a cracker in real life, then you can do that online as well. If you love quotes and making your own quotes then do that. being yourself is something you should always do.

Today an another ordinary person became a twitter star and now will write and produce an NBC show. I actually talked about her in Conan O’Brien Finally Following Someone on Twitter. I’m talking about @lovelybutton someone Conan O’Brien decided to follow out of the blue maybe because he saw she is unique when he saw her mentioning about peanut butter and gummy dinosaurs. Thanks to Conan O’Brien, she will write and produce an NBC sitcom based on her Twitter feed starting this fall. The title of the show will be Lovely Button just like her username and will feature Danica McKellar.

And this is not the first, the previous ordinary person who became a twitter star is Justin. Known on twitter as @ShitMyDadSays , he posts tweets about his everyday life and what his dad says to him. Here are some examples of his tweets

  • “A parent’s only as good as their dumbest kid. If one wins a Nobel Prize but the other gets robbed by a hooker, you failed.”
  • “Nah, we don’t celebrate it. Don’t know who St. Valentine was, don’t give a shit, and doubt he wants people screwing in his memory.”
  • “No, I’m not a pessimist. At some point the world shits on everybody. Pretending it ain’t shit makes you an idiot, not an optimist.”
  • “Science and Mother Nature are in a marriage where Science is always surprised to come home and find Mother Nature blowing the neighbor.”

His unique and funny tweets got him a tv deal with CBS. A sitcom that will be titled “Oh, The Things My Dad Says!” Not to mention more than 1 million followers currently following him.

What have we learned from this? “Just be YOURSELF on Twitter”

Even if you love peanut butter and gummy dinosaurs. The next ordinary twitter user to tv star might be YOU.
