News Media Could Be Your Company’s Greatest Weapon

September 2, 2016 by Aaron Leave a Comment

Have you ever thought about how useful the news media could be to your business? We think, when you start to think about it, you’ll realize that news media is your company’s greatest weapon.

A lot of people think that the news media is dead or dying. Instead, of consumers reading newspapers or watching programs on TV, they pick up all the information they want online.

People who think news media is dead are missing the point. Rather than dying, news media, like many other industries, has simply evolved.

Now, the majority of news media outlets are based online. Although, we wouldn’t necessarily count old media out of the race just yet. The bottom line is that online and offline outlets can be incredibly useful to your business.

Paid For Advertising

You can pay to get your business advertised in the local newspaper. This will only make sense for certain businesses. It depends on who your target customer is and their location. For instance, if your customers are local, it makes sense to advertise in the local newspaper. Particularly, if your consumer base is over the age of fifty-five. These are the individuals who still read the paper on a regular basis and are keeping the printed press alive and well. Although paid advertising may be a greater expense than your business can handle. Instead, then, you can consider getting media outlets to promote your business for free.

Free Marketing

It is possible to get free marketing through the news outlets online and offline. All you need to do is represent your company as a reliable source of news for the industry. You can do this by using a press release distribution service. Doing this, you will be giving journalists a source where they can pick up all the information in your industry. This includes specific content based on your company. If they think that the story is sellable or interesting, they will promote it. Better yet, you won’t have to pay them to do this. They’ll do it for free in a partnership that is mutually beneficial.

Effect Online Performance

Once your business starts to generate interest from news outlets, you will see a shift in interest for your company online. More people will have heard of your business. This will encourage them to buy or at least research your business online. You will certainly see your site ranking increase, particularly if you go viral.

Going viral is easy if you have the press and news outlets on your side. Rather than customers seeing marketing for your business, they see news about your company. This is a far more organic way to build up a customer base.

Promote Exciting Events

Lastly, you can use the media to promote events that you want people to know about. Events that may boost the profile of your business or brand your company positively. An example of this would be a charity evening where your business is raising money for a cause. This is positive publicity and by getting the press on board, you can make sure that everyone knows about it.
