Is Google Buzz Worth The Buzz?

February 11, 2010 by Aaron 2 Comments

google buzz trending It seems like google wants a piece of the social media market too.

Its been talking over and over on twitter that it has made google buzz 2nd on the trend. Imagine the conversation going on now. Some are saying they love it. Some are asking google to remove it.

Google themselves defined google buzz as

Go beyond status messages

Share updates, photos, videos, and more.
Start conversations about the things you find interesting

In short its twitter in gmail.

If you still don’t know what is google buzz I suggest looking at this video.

<object width=”560″ height=”340″><param name=”movie” value=”http://www.youtube.com/v/yi50KlsCBio&hl=en_US&fs=1&”></param><param name=”allowFullScreen” value=”true”></param><param name=”allowscriptaccess” value=”always”></param><embed src=”http://www.youtube.com/v/yi50KlsCBio&hl=en_US&fs=1&” type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” allowscriptaccess=”always” allowfullscreen=”true” width=”560″ height=”340″></embed></object>

Even blog post are coming up too (I want a piece of this pie too)

My Personal opinions after trying it?

Its alright but a little slow for me. I’m also using my gmail for personal matters. Not sure if I’ll be active on google buzz as I am on twitter. For now its not worth the buzz YET. Maybe in the future? What do you think people?

Regarding my first impression I think BUZZ requires to be run on a different account than the personal email (in case you want certain privacy on your email, which we anyway do not have, because emails are anyway tracked by certain authorities)… I actually have just a few contacts in my personal email so I can test it well there without creating a mess… what I did so far: I fed my tweets (by RSS) in Buzz means, I use it as an auto promoter for my Twitter account as I do with some other services as well … it took me just a few secs to set it up… the good thing is, that you can get there feedback on your tweets from another source and you can push your Google profile a bit… I think it is worth it to think about integrating it in the social network… – in general I follow the philosophy that once something new opens, just be there from the beginning (at least with a profile and some RSS), just in case it becomes popular… and in case it does, you are already established (like Guy is on Twitter) once the majority discovers the service
