Why Giveaways are Great for Business

There are lots of different marketing strategies you can use to promote your business, and many of them will be very successful. The problem with some of them though is they will take a lot of your time, which could be better spent doing other things. One marketing ploy worth considering is giveaways or competitions. Once you have set these up you can more or less leave them to run on their own, but that is not the only advantage.

Even large businesses have tried this strategy and had huge success.  Most of them say that every time they hold a give away, they see increased numbers on the blogs, their website, and their social media accounts.


Your Network Will Grow

If you set up a giveaway that needs a like and shares on social media to stand a chance of being the lucky recipient, you can just sit back and watch the number of your followers grow. You do need to set parameters and rules for a person to be entered for the giveaway, or the idea won’t work.

If an existing follower shares it just once, and they have three hundred friends, how many of those will try to be the one that gets the free gift? You do not need many of them to like and share it with their friends, and the amount of new people it can reach is endless. Always leave it to run for a few days, and you may be surprised at how much your social media network expands.

Of course, the giveaway has to be something that people really want, or the whole exercise will be a waste of effort and money. Some of the prizes that attract the most attention include a limited edition product, an entire collection product, gift cards, travel or a once in a lifetime opportunity. When the giveaway time is over, let everyone know who won the prize, and that you will be doing another one in the near future. Make sure to take of photo of the winner receiving their prize to post on your social media platforms. Many people think these giveaways are scams and you need to prove that yours is genuine.

Include A Puzzle

Including a puzzle that the viewers have to solve is a good way to get even more people interested. Some people cannot resist the challenge of a puzzle or riddle, and when they see one as part of your giveaway, they can be more likely to take part.

Generate New Leads

A sweepstake is a great way to generate new leads or to increase the number of email subscribers your business has. The more people you can send emails to detailing new products or special offers, the more sales you will generate. Emails are a simple and effective way of connecting with people that are interested in your products.

You can also use emails to let your existing customers know about the giveaway, as they will appreciate being given forewarning.

Cost Effectiveness

There are not many marketing strategies that are as cost effective as a giveaway. You will know how much the expense will be because of the prize at the end of the time allotted. You just need to include the cost of the prize in your marketing budget and compare it to how much other things are, and if they are so effective.

You will probably find that a giveaway is one of the most inexpensive and sales producing ways of promoting your products.

More Product Exposure

The more people that see your product on social media, the more exposure it will have to potential buyers.  Launching a new product with a giveaway is a great way to promote interest and create excitement. If the prize at the end is your new product, that will cause even more interest as the winner will get to try it out. People always like to be the first as well, and this is a great way to get your new product reviewed.

Showing Appreciation

Customers like to know they are appreciated and giveaways are a great way for your business to show this. There are other ways to say thank you to each customer of course, but most consumers like something free, so why not stick to this method of saying thank you to them all.

Save Yourself Time And Hassle

Whoever first came up with the idea of giveaways found a marketing tool that is relatively hassle-free and not very time-consuming. You do not need a lot of technical knowledge to put one in place, and generally, the process is simple and fast.

Have Some Fun With Your Customers

As well as your customers having fun, you should do too. You may be surprised by some of the comments you get as many people will stake the chance to have a laugh with their friends, and you can join it and make it a much more enjoyable experience for everyone.

Liven Up Your Network

After just a few weeks of people making the same posts and saying similar things, your network can start to feel a bit stale. This could make some followers not bother to read what you say anymore. A giveaway can bring the interest back, as well as all the new followers it will encourage.

Find A Partner

If you have only just started your social media presence and do not yet have many followers, find someone who has loads to partner in your giveaway. You only need them to promote it on their social media pages, and you will both benefit from gaining some new followers.

Or you could use one of the giveaway sites. These are a great way to increase your newsletter following. Usually, they will let you partner with hundreds of other brands online, and then you can all reach out to the same audience that may be interested in your industry.

When users realize that your giveaways are worth having, they will; tell other people about them, which will create more interest. And so it goes on. This is why a giveaway can be such a good marketing tool, and why many more businesses are using them.
