Benefits of Hiring Remote Employees

July 6, 2019 by Aaron

Work from home jobs are continuously increasing in popularity. If you are starting a small business, you may want to consider remote employment. There are various benefits that you can get from this as a business owner, including the following.

Save money

One of the obvious benefits of hiring remote employees is that you will save on costs. There is no need to rent or lease a physical office and buy office materials, equipment, and furniture that you will use for business operations. All you need are the things that you will use on your end that include a computer and stable Internet connection as these are what you would use mainly for the hiring process and communication with your employees.

More applicant choices

If operating in a physical location, the applicants that will apply to your job postings will only be limited to the people who reside around that area. Those who live far away although they fit the job description may not apply because of the hassle. With remote employment, location is not a hindrance. It doesn’t matter what city, state or even country they are in; you can hire them as long as they match the job requirements, and also have a desktop or laptop computer and a fast and stable Internet connection to do the job, and for communication too.

Better employee retention

Employees are more likely to stay with your company even if there are more prominent companies with higher offers because of the convenience of working at home. Those who have kids to take care of will find this setup ideal because they can be with their children, while at the same time earn money. They just need to ensure that they can do their work efficiently even when they have to look after their kids. Even those who are not yet married or do not have kids will benefit from this because it will be easier to find a work-life balance. With more people giving importance to enjoying life outside work, this is something that they will love and keep.

Employees save time on the commute

The time that employees spend on the commute to work takes away precious time that they could have spent with their family or in doing things that they love that are outside of work. They don’t have to worry about this when they work remotely. This will enhance their satisfaction with their job, and also contribute to their retention. It will be easier to keep employees working for you with these benefits.

More productive employees

According to a survey made by Stanford, those who work remotely are 13% more productive compared to those who work in the office. This may have something to do with the comfort that they have working from their own space and the satisfaction that they have with being able to spend more time with their loved ones or doing what interests them.

If monitoring the attendance and productivity of your remote employees is among your top concerns, several applications can help you do that, including video conferencing and desktop monitoring apps. You may also use a cloud-based time clock app that will let employees time in and out using their device and will also allow you to access the report from your end.
