When you are starting a new business, it often makes sense to start it out of your spare room or basement to keep your overheads low when you asr just starting out, but eventually, there will come a time when you need to move out of the house and into your own business accommodation like a teenager who’s time has come to leave home and head to college.
Of course, it can be hard to know when the time has come to move your busies out of your home and into a larger premises, but there are some tell-tale signs you should look out for that will help you make the decision, including the following:
- You don’t have much space
The most obvious sign that you need to move your business out is that you do not have much space If you have to squeeze around the digital cutting table that allows you to create your packaging or you have to squeeze your desk into a dark corner just so you can fit in amongst the stock, then you are likely to be less productive than you otherwise might be, not to mention, less safe in your workplace and moving out might be just what you need.
- You want to attract more customers
If you want to attract more customers, then having an actual store in your community is more likely to do so than having a room in your basement. You will get lots of passing trade in the local business district which you will simply not be able to benefit from in your own home, so if you have decided you need to attract more business, moving your company out would be a sensible move.
- Your family don’t get it
If your family do not get the importance of running your home business; if they are constantly interrupting you when you are working or moving your stuff surround, then it is a key sign that you might need to move out in order to allow your business to grow and flourish and to stop your family driving you insane. It will also give you your house back which is never a bad thing.
- Your business is really taking off
If your business has started to really take off, and you are getting many more orders than you used to, moving to bigger premises will not only enable you to be more productive, but it will also enable you to store more stock and have a dedicate business address you can put on your website to protect your privacy and give your business a more professional reputation.
- You feel like your company is stagnating
If you feel like your business is stagnating that could also be a sign you need to move out, go big and try to build more opportunities for yourself too, so be mindful of this when making your decision.
If you spot any of these tell-tale signs then it might just be time for your business to move out so that it can grow. So, what are you waiting for?
