4 Ways to Improve Your Live Virtual Event

November 18, 2020 by Aaron

These days, remote working is becoming more and more prevalent. In addition to having employees work from home or other remote locations, things like corporate events, professional training seminars, and conferences are also being done remotely as well. Through the use of video chatting platforms and other remote communication tools, it is possible to host such events and include participants from multiple locations.

That being said, the last thing you want is for your virtual event to be mundane and simple. Just as you would put a great deal of thought into such events that you would host in person, you should also be looking for creative and interactive ways to make your virtual events more engaging and professional.

Here are four ways in which you can improve your live virtual event.

1. Add Live Captioning

There are many benefits of live captions in the context of live virtual events. Firstly, there might very well be a situation where someone participating isn’t able to hear the person speaking. Live captions can help make your event more inclusive for the hearing impaired. Furthermore, technical difficulties happen, meaning that if you have a participant experiencing something of that nature, you still want them to be able to take in the valuable information that you are presenting through your event.

2. Find the Right Presenter

The job of a presenter at a live event is a specific one that requires a particular type of person; however, when you take away that presenter’s ability to actually see and interact with their audience, things can be a bit more complicated. When hosting a virtual event, you want to make sure that all presenters and speakers that you bring on board are up to the challenge of speaking to an audience that they can’t interact with in the traditional sense.

This person should be charismatic, engaging, and good at adapting in case technical difficulties arise. Make sure that you take your time to find the right people who can effectively speak at a virtual event.

3. Make the Event More Interactive

Even if the event that you are hosting is more informative in nature, you should still try to find ways to get your audience involved. By making your event more interactive, you make it less likely that participants will mentally check out at any point. Remember that many people participating in your event are likely going to be doing so from the comfort of their own home. There are plenty of distractions that can come up at home, so making your event interactive with things like polls, live chats, and other features can help keep people engaged.

4. Ask for Feedback

Hosting virtual events might be uncharted waters for you and your team. With that in mind, it is important to remember that not everything will run smoothly. In order to ensure that you continue to improve, make sure that you ask for feedback from those who tuned in to your event.
