4 Ways To Declutter Your Business

May 1, 2020 by Aaron

An organized business is a better business. With less clutter and baggage, there will be fewer hindrances to business growth, and you will become more efficient.

And when we’re talking about decluttering your business, we aren’t only talking about tidying up your desk, although if you want help in this area, follow the link.

Here are some other ways to declutter your business.

#1: Declutter your calendar

Your time is precious, so don’t waste time on things that are only going to slow you down. Take a look at your calendar, and if there are any pointless meetings or business events on there, take them off. You don’t have to attend everything you are invited to, especially if there is no obvious point in attending. So, eliminate such things, as not only your calendar be less cluttered, but your precious time will be as well.

#2: Declutter your warehouse

This might not apply for some of you, but if your business relies on a warehouse for storage, now might the time to declutter it. This is especially true if you don’t know where certain things are, or if you are forever trying to get to what you need because other things are piled up in the way. So, organize your warehouse better, perhaps by getting rid of anything that no longer needs to be in there. You could sell or donate certain items, or recycle them if they are past their sell-by-dates. Then arrange everything neatly and under categories, perhaps with extra shelving or a new pallet rack if needed, as a tidier warehouse will become a more efficient warehouse.

#3: Declutter your marketing

Now is the time to evaluate your marketing and determine what marketing methods aren’t working. After all, why continue wasting time and money on marketing techniques that aren’t bringing in new customers? It might be that you need to adapt what you are doing or scrap certain ideas entirely, so take a long hard look at your current marketing funnels, and do what is necessary. When you have decided on what isn’t working, you will have more room to focus on other methods, be they old-school marketing techniques or something within the realms of digital marketing.

#4: Declutter your distractions

To be productive you need to be focussed. But if there are any distractions getting in your way, your day will be cluttered with needless time wasters. So, think about the distractions that hinder your day. It could be the internet, especially if you use it for non-business purposes when you should be working. Or it could be other people, especially those that don’t understand your need to focus on your work. Going back to the beginning of our article, you might also be distracted by your untidy desk! So, find ways to tackle your distractions, and benefit from your tidier and more efficient day.

These were just a few suggestions but think about your business. Is there anything else you need to declutter? If so, have a clean up now, as you should notice the benefits if you do.
