Confession: I have not been blogging at all! I totally stop blogging for a while because I took some time off as I was really tired. Been spending more time at home with my family and friends and catching up with what they have been doing.
Yesterday, my blog turn one year old. Yes! Ask Aaron Lee is ONE YEAR OLD. I wanted to blog about it, but I took the day off (procrastination talking) and spent time at home before heading back to University (I am back in campus now) before I complete my final semester.
Anyway I thought of reviewing some stuff that happened in 2010.
iStrategy2010 Singapore
iStrategy is a social media conference. There are tons of amazing speakers invited to speak during the two days conference. It was a humbling experience meeting many great and friendly people at the event. I learned so much from so many people at the two-day event, especially from @thomasmarzano which I had the opportunity to spend two extra days with him, @simontay78, @ladyxtel and my girlfriend who needs to be on twitter soon.
During the event, I met @jeremewong, who is a funny and humble guy who shared his experience on how he started his business and also the tears, sweat and hard work that he had put into the business. His sheer and determination to learn inspire me to grow to be better. @jeremewong is one of the many people who really inspire me during the event.
I also met @Liam_McCance from Vocanic. The funny thing was I didn’t know that he was from Vocanic because I didn’t view his twitter profile completely before meeting him during the event. We had a short discussion on twitter. Then I met him during a break and we had a short discussion about AMD
This is just a short summary of the people I met thought, not about the event. In order to write about the event I will need more than a blog post
Started a Little Company
I also started a little company with 3 of my friends whom I have met on twitter. All three of us have not met in person but when we saw an opportunity we jump right into it. 2011 will be the year to grow this little company.
More information about this soon!
Interviews
It is an honor to be featured at Huffington Post, thanks to @2morrowknight to giving me the opportunity to be featured. Today the interview had been
- retweeted more than 700 times
- 18,000 hits in total
- getting 100 hits a day.
So thank you Sean for having me there. I was also featured at other amazing blogs like Penn Olson.
Job Opportunities
I always believe that passion is everything. You will need passion if you want to go far. For me passion beats a degree.
My passion? Connecting with people! Despite being a little shy, I love connecting with people, talking to them and learning from people. Funny thing was, I had a few job opportunities because the way I was using social media.
Some were really impressed of how I was using social media to connect with other individuals as they were one of the few people whom I have connected with. Moreover in their profile, it didn’t mention what they were doing. Don’t be surprise that most of the CEO’s profile says they are a DAD and a husband!
So what I have learned from 2010? Reply to everyone whenever you can. You won’t know if one of your followers has a million dollars company (just an example).
Of course it depends on your objectives and what you plan to achieve by utilizing social media.
I didn’t use social media to sell. I have nothing to sell except my passion, my thoughts and some ideas.
Last but not least…
The amazing people!
None of this would have happened without the people whom I have met on twitter and through my blog. I met a lot of amazing people on twitter. From CEO’s toeveryday wonder mom’s that never fails to inspire me. Thank you for taking the time to reply my tweets and taking the time to get to know me!
Thank you for the amazing 2010!
