
There comes a time during our business journey that we start to take risks. When we find ourselves overspending on certain aspects of the business, we have to find ways to be risky but still get the results. In the current market, many employers are hiring from a very small talent pool. When you are looking for someone with specific experience, it may not always be the reality. And as a result, many companies are thinking about what the ideal person really looks like, and may even consider hiring someone without experience. But why should we hire someone that doesn’t have the experience, and are there any drawbacks, apart from the obvious?
Do They Have a Chequered Past?
This is something that we all feel that we need to stay away from. But if you hire someone that ticks all the boxes yet they’ve been in and out of a criminal defense attorney’s office, does that mean we should avoid them with a barge pole? With experience comes a set way of doing things. They can inspire you in totally different ways. While those that have many years of experience in their own industry can come up with innovative ideas, it’s more than likely that we will have seen these ideas before but dressed up differently. There are a lot of misconceptions about the younger generations; that they are work-shy or they aren’t good when it comes to soft skills, but we have to remember that when we are hiring people, a diverse range of skill sets and generations is what will help any company to develop. It’s also important to hire a candidate that is attracted to a business that offers training development and progression. When we start to hire people of the next generation, they will have a different approach but they will also bring unbridled passion. With this in mind, by hiring someone from an untested talent pool, this person could transform the business. Arguably, they’ve got the best of both worlds. They can utilize their young and vibrant skills that also you are hiring someone who is able to adapt and multitask more effectively. In this respect, they are the best candidates for remolding into your own image.
