How To Build Your Personal Brand On Youtube

November 21, 2019 by Aaron

Have you ever thought you have what it takes to be a Youtube star? Or, maybe you’re just looking to parlay your interest in a subject into a tidy side income through video.

Either way, your branding is very important. Having your brand on point on Youtube can carry over into other areas and give you good recognition and expand your opportunities.

Youtube may seem easy, but it is more work than you might think. Because of that, I have put this article together to give you some ideas to grow your channel and your brand.

Get some swag made

Corporations have been doing it for years. They give out tons of promotional merchandise from shirts to bottle openers. It helps build recognition and gets their name in front of a lot of people.

You should be making your own custom t-shirts that you can wear on your channel. Have a good slogan and logo and make it something that somebody would recognize right away.

You can even use the shirts as promotional material yourself. Giveaways are a great way to build your subscriber base. Using a shirt that has your branding is a good way to kill two birds with one stone.

Promote, promote, promote

I just mentioned using swag to do a promotional giveaway, but it doesn’t stop there.

You need to use the platform to spread awareness across other social media outlets. Luckily, Youtube has streamlined the sharing process so it is easier than ever to link your videos to Facebook and Twitter.

Have a blog that ties in with your channel and use the embed feature to post your video there. People might find your blog first and then check out your channel on Youtube after.

Make sure that your colors, logos and slogan are consistent across all the platforms you use.

Use good equipment

You may think your phone is good enough to make videos with. And if your content is out of this world, it just might be.

If you do go out and get some good equipment, it will make your videos look more professional and will reflect on your brand as such.

You don’t have to spend a fortune, but buy to the max of your budget. Get a good wireless microphone so you can move around and still be heard. Have a video camera or a DSLR that has video capabilities. And a tripod will get used way more than you think.

Don’t just hold the camera up to your face. People are expecting more polished videos since they have replaced watching TV with Youtube.

Stay consistent

Make sure that every video portrays you and your brand exactly how you want to be perceived. Know your audience and what they expect of you and stay on message.

That’s the best way to make sure your brand is built the right way on Youtube and can even give you some opportunities off-platform.
