That is the most deceiving title I can use for a blog post. Why I say that? To be frank, I don’t love celebrities on twitter except @alyssa_milano (Actress.. duh) and @corybrooker (Mayor).
So why did i mention I love celebrities then? If you notice the top 10 most followed twitteres have millions of followers. You can view all of them from twitterholic.
They helped bring in more people to twitter. Maybe MILLIONS of REAL people to twitter.
That’s my first reason.
1. Celebrities brings in more people to twitter.
Before celebrities flocked to twitter. Twitter wasn’t as popular as it is now. It was where internet marketers used to hang out to talk about their business, posting tweets to their business and so on. Then it was the celebrity era where more people heard about twitter and came to twitter.
Celebrities will often promote their twitter account on the media. Like “follow me on twitter” etc. People watching will follow them.
That is one of twitters biggest success by having celebrities using twitter and making it known to millions. (Free advertising)
2. Charity Success
If you don’t know, some celebrities are actually doing good causes on twitter. One of them is @alyssa_milano thats why I love her on twitter. Oh and also when she acted on Charmed too.
Did you know Alyssa milano raised $92,568 For Charity:Water Using Twitter? What are other celebrities doing? They can do so much on twitter yet they are too busy talking about themselves.
With only 600,000 followers @alyssa_milano raised so much money for charity. Imagine what other celebrities can do with more than a million followers.
3. Celebrities Impact
This reason is almost the same as the second reason. One more reason is because people listen to celebrities since they follow them and go crazy over them. People know who are celebrities and they can make a difference. What @alyssa_milano did for charities proves it.
She made a difference with a few tweets. If you don’t know, she is a great person. Here is a screen of her latest tweets on haiti.
4. Makes normal people look even nicer
They do! because WE (okay not everyone) reply to tweets. Of course celebrities can’t reply to everyone but some people i know are ‘celebrities convert’, where they knew about twitter from celebrities by following them. They then realized that twitter is not about celebrities and are now ‘conversationalist’ on twitter
Some people I know are “celebrities convert” Where they knew about twitter from celebrities, following them. Realized that twitter is not about celebrities and now “conversationalist” on twitter.
That’s all. 4 reasons why i love celebrities on twitter. Fact is without them twitter won’t be as popular as it is now. Its a win-win for all of us.
Update:
One picture to show that proves @alyssa_milano is really a great celebrity on twitter is that she really reads other peoples tweets. She actually read my blog and sent me this tweet.

Some great points there Aaron 😉 There was some smart marketing by Twitter and that’s why it’s the toast of the social media town.
Gotta agree with you brother about Alyssa Milano. She is one of the few known personalities that’s using Twitter for a higher purpose and it’s a beautiful thing to see.
All the best Aaron.
nice write up on the celebrities, I hope that Malaysia Celebrities will follow what Alyssa Milano do.
wondering why alyssa milano have so much time for tweeting. dont she have any new drama/film project? =O
Can't go wrong with Alyssa, for anything, in my book.
It seems as though Twitter (and social media in general) is somewhat diluting the traditional idea of celebrity. Ten years ago, many people were buying endless amounts of gossip mags and reading the celeb-central pages of each newspaper just to get a small glimpse into the lives of the rich and famous. With social media though, everybody can ‘follow’ and ‘friend’ their favourite celebrities so that they know almost everything there is to know about them. So are celebrities becoming less amazing and intriguing to us all now that we can see and know so much about them?
