Where do you blog the most?

Other than the Smartphone, the laptop is the second most versatile piece of technology that exists today. With the ever-growing range of portable computers that allow business owners to bring their work where ever they are, we tend to forget that the laptop is an amazing technological feat.

The best thing about my work is that I am able to work as long as I have a computer and a stable internet connection. In fact, I don’t need an office. Most of the time I am either working on my desk in my bed room or elsewhere.

Here are my favourite places to blog/work from:

1. My room/desk

This is the place I get most of my blog posts done most of the time. I love writing at wee hours in the morning because I love my surroundings to be quiet so that I can focus on writing.

I love music but I find music distracting for some reason.

On my desk there are two laptops. My Macbook Pro and my Toshiba Portege Z830 Ultrabook. The reason so is because I share my computer with my family members or girlfriend when she visits.

2. My bed

There is also my bed, where I am able to just relax and write something more relaxing such as this.

Most nights, I’ll just lie on my bed and just write, write, and write. I usually prefer the Toshiba Portege z830 Ultrabook for this as I can conveniently toss and turn while I write. Since its weight is a mere 1.12 kg, I can do this without much hassle. Not to mention it can withstand 90-100 kg of pressure, so I don’t need to worry about accidentally falling asleep on it.

3. Hotels

I used to travel quite often with my girlfriend for work, for some reason I love blogging in the hotel room. I can just sit there and write when I feel inspired to write. Perhaps its the new surroundings?

4. Cafes

Sometimes to get a different surrounding, I’ll visit my local Starbucks on weekdays (because its quiet) and start writing. I find that when I have different surroundings, it helps to stimulate some brilliant ideas that I would otherwise leave untapped.

I’ll get a cup of coffee (my companion whenever I write a blog post) and I’ll just write the whole day away. Most people think I’m a college student slaving away on my essays, but to tell you the truth, I’ve never done a single essay in a Starbucks before cos’ no amount of coffee in the world can soften that pain.

When I go out of my house or travel, I find myself picking my Toshiba Portege Z830 because it is portable (remember 1.12 kg) and functional. Its got a generous amount of USB ports, a great battery life (7-8 hours), and a powerful Intel Core i7 processor. So really it covers all my needs and then some.

Other than this, I also have blogged in a moving bus, on the plane (great place to blog), on a ferry (Yes we still have that).

Where do you spend most of your time blogging? Where do you enjoy blogging from?

Strangely enough, I do most of my first drafts for blog posts long hand, on self-made notebooks made out of paper I otherwise would have recycled (and still do after I have keyed in my masterpiece). I write better when I hold a pen in hand.

So far as the physical location is concerned, it depends where inspiration strikes. Normally it is at my part-time taste tester job, where I have between 90 seconds and 5 minutes of enforced dead time between samples, or on a break from my night class. But I have written in airports, on a hike, in my car when I arrived ridiculously early for a meeting, at a dance competition, etc.

For my personal blog, I do most of it from the living room in my new house.  At work, I do most of it from my office.  However, I also spend a lot of time planning and composing the blog post in my head, and I do that anywhere and everywhere; in bed as I wake up or drift off to sleep, when I’m driving to and from the office, and just about any other place where I can find a few moments to think.

I love my iPad & iPhone to write because they are always with me and I can literally write anywhere. Recently my 2 most inspirational places & time are on the patio at sunrise or waking up in the middle of the nite and writing in bed. The key to my writing is writing the exact moment I’m inspired. I’ve yet o writ from my laptop or desktop, but I edit, add images and post from there.

I blog from my laptop in my home, in the kitchen or in my office. My favorite place to write a blog is in a house close enough to the beach to hear the waves!

I blog most on my laptop in my home office. I am sitting alongside my six year old whom I homeschool. He listens to science videos and practices maps while I build social media profiles for clients.

I blog the most from from my desk, in my room. Sometimes I blog at Wi-Fi enabled hotspots and places with online telephony services or cafes. I also blog at my university PC lab, on the shared computer. I blog whenever I have the ideas and inspirations, topics are open and creative.
