Toshiba Portégé Z830 Ultrabook, Best. Ultrabook. Ever.

Most of you know me for being a social media manager and a blogger. As if that’s not enough, I’ve also launched Leneys, an independent online ladies apparel company I started with my girlfriend last year. Ever since Leneys happened, I find myself constantly traveling as we need to have weekly trips to source our products.

This takes us to other states and countries, and therefore requires me to bring my work wherever I go.

Being a social media manager, I attend events and conferences as well. I remember traveling to Singapore to attend iStrategy Singapore back in 2010, and I traveled as light as possible because I didn’t want to walk around with so much weight on me. It was one the worst experience ever as I ended up not having a laptop with me and tweeting the entire event on my mobile.

Since I travel a lot, I need to have my laptop with me at all times. I need to be as connected as possible because inspiration comes at any given time. What I found out was that being in a different environment inspires me to write more.

Seeing a different culture, meeting different people, and generally operating differently, just tend to bring in a fresh perspective that we writers tend to need. Remember J.K. Rowling wrote her first few Harry Potter books in a café full of people.

Moreover, connectivity is a must when I have to catch up with the latest news on Twitter, Facebook, Google Plus, Pinterest, and so on.

Connectivity is not easy to achieve especially if you are travelling in countries around the South-East Asian region, therefore I recommend that you might want to bring more than one device that allows you to stay connected. More importantly, bring a laptop if you want better experience and increased connectivity with other devices (mobile, tablet, camera, etc)

How to create your own creative QR Code

For those who doesn’t know what a QR code is, here is a quick introduction, a QR or “quick responds” code is an encoded information in a coded form readable with the help of a QR-readers. Its like a barcode of a product, and the counter scanner scans the barcode to get the price, while in this case the encoded information.

QR codes are everywhere these days, you’ll see it while window shopping, reading the newspapers in the morning, on a bottle, contest (scan to win), and t-shirts. Its everywhere! Some question whether QR codes are even useful. That is a debate that I would love to talk about in the future post, however this post is more about designing your QR code, making it different or standout.

Buffer and Facebook: Great marriage in a making?

How to organize your twitter list with formulists

As your followers grow, your timeline might be more crowded, and ultimately, make reading tweets more challenging.

Previously, I recommended a tool called research.ly, which was a paid tool that allowed users to search a particular topic in their followers and see their tweets. Another method to have a more targeted tweet is to manually list your Twitter followers. This way you can just look at the list and have a more organized category of followers. However, organizing your Twitter followers is tough to accomplish, especially if you have a sizeable amount of followers. Furthermore, questions might arise regarding how accurate your categorization of your followers is, because if your categorization is inaccurate, then your list might be even less efficient. From this point of view, I believe that Twitter could learn a lot from Google Plus’ drag and drop feature.

Research.ly offers a more complete Twitter experience

When you were only following 10 people, Twitter seemed so peaceful. It was so quiet that you could hear the sound of a penny when it falls on the ground. Then when you started following back everyone or started to follow more people, it may sound as though you’re in a mall… unless you have a Twitter list. You could only have up to 20 Twitter list and, at 500 people per list, you could only list 10,000 people at most.
